A large kitchen knife and claw hammer found hidden in a Nuneaton park could be linked to local crimes, police have said. A member of the public clocked what could be nasty weapons stashed by a wall in the Pool Bank Street recreation ground.

Members of Nuneaton Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) responded to the report and seized both items earlier this morning (June 7). In a post on their page on Facebook, the team said: "We have recovered a large kitchen Knife and a claw hammer which may be connected to offences within the town. Our investigations will continue.

"If you find any discarded or hidden items like these please do not touch them and report it to us."

The find came as the nearby town centre continues to play home to the powerful Knife Angel sculpture, an imposing piece of art made out of 100,000 confiscated blades, some of which have been used in crimes.

The sculpture will be in Market Place, where the lilypad fountain once stood, until the end of the month. Anyone can go along and see it and leave a message on the railings around it.

There are also a number of community events being held at the sculpture and you can find out more about them here.
